My Review Of The Elephant Man
The Elephant Man was overall a fantastic film. The fact that the elephant man John Merrick was an actual person was quite interesting to know. One can only wonder what his life could have been. The fact that the film was shot in black and white allowed for the viewer to better grasp the feel the how it was at that time and place. I loved this film because it opened my eyes to the possibilities that life can bring us, for example in the film, Fredrick Treeves at first took it upon himself to care for John Merrick to get a name for himself. Although, throughout the progression of the film, he began to really care for John Merrick and he wasn't just caring for him to get himself known more. Just goes to show that one's intentions might not be the real cause of why they are doing something. The film made me also see that the freaks in life are not the ones who have deformities nor the ones who are out of the ordinary, but the ones who get enjoyment from showcasing the ones considered "freaks". I truly enjoyed watching this film and would love to see it one more time.
